SEO
BigCommerce pages have an easy way of entering in SEO metadata. Products have 2 sections at the bottom of their CMS page for “SEO” and “OG sharing”, Categories have the “SEO” section as well, and all other pages have the “Advanced Options” section. Making sure these inputs are correctly filled out is crucial to improving our SEO. The SEO settings for the home page can be found under settings → store settings → Search Engine Optimization.

Default Open Graph Settings
Since Bigcommerce only provides the open graph data for the product and blog pages, we’ll need to set a default for the rest of the site. Fortunately, we’ve set it up so all of the information is being pulled from the page (name, url, type, ect.) except for the image which we left changeable on purpose. To swap out the defualt image, head to the Image Manager in BigCommerce and swap out the image called “ogimage.jpg”. Make sure that the image you upload is also name “ogimage.jpg” and the recommended dimensions are “1200px x 630px” (try to keep below 100kb). This may take up to a week to swap out depending on when BigCommerce clears out it’s CDN cache. If needed to be replaced sooner, contact the devs to temporarily change the name the image is looking for.
