Brindle Pets
To manage the catalog sites, we use a content management system called Strapi. If you are new to Strapi, please read the section on General Content Mangement.
Brindle Pets has a slightly more complex design. Therefore, it has more Strapi content you will need to update.
Main Navigation
The navigation menu at the top of the page is broken into two sections:
- Products (category menu)
- About and Contact pages
Products will list any categories that are set to published with the exception of the Shop category, which is a special category reserved to show ALL products (see Categories under Collection Types below).
The About and Contact pages, like the Home page, are single types in Strapi as follows.
Single Types
Single types are pages whose content can be edited through Strapi under Content Manager > Single Types. These include the Home, About, and Contact pages.
Home
The editable content for the Home page is a mixture of regular input types and components. These include: Hero, Info, and Reviews. See respective components below for more info.
About
The editable content for the About page includes regular input types and components, including optional meta_title and meta_description, Hero, Info, a Video link that will be displayed in an iFrame, a second Info_2 section, and a Carousel of multiple images w/o caption (see Gallery under General Content Management here). See all other respective components below for more info.
Contact
The editable content for the Contact page includes an optional meta_title and meta_description, email and optional content to display in the Email Us section, along with a FAQ (see FAQ component below). The contact form is coded in the page. Submissions are sent to FormSpark and are emailed to the info@brindlepets.com email. Please contact the web development team if you need these settings changed.
Collection Types
Brindle Pets uses the Collection Types listed on the General Content Management page here. However, see below for deviations to these general types as well as additional info specific to Brindle.
Categories
The Brindle Pets Category collection type deviates from the general type in that it does not have an option for an image.
Note that any published entry in the Category collection type will be added to the desktop and mobile menus with the exception of the Shop category. The Shop category is meant to be a place for ALL products regardless of categorization. However, as with other categories, products must be added to this category to show up on the page, linked to by default from the Shop Now button in the Home page Hero component.
Products
Product pages require the most content to display properly. If the fields need to be updated or features added, please reach out to the dev team. The Brindle Pets Product type is significantly different from the general type and holds the following data:

::: tip To make adding products faster, you can use the duplicate feature on the entries (double page icon to the left of the garbage can) to copy an existing product. This way you won’t have to do as much content entry. :::
Variant
For products that have color and size options, you will need to create an entry in the Variant collection type. The Brindle Pets Variant type consists of the following data:

Similar to the category, you will need to attach the variant entry to the product for the respective size and color swatch to show up on the product. See Swatches component below.

We have created several reusable components that you will find in the Brindle Pets CMS. Below is a brief description of each and where they are being used.

Carousel
Used on the About page to show an auto-looping carousel of multiple images w/o caption. See Gallery under General Content Management here for more info.
FAQ
Accordion used on the Contact page as well as for additional product info and details on the Product pages. You can add as many entries as you need. Each entry consists of a detail (question) and a summary (answer), which can be text or HTML.
Gallery
Used on the Product page to show multiple product images. See Gallery under General Content Management here for more info. Brindle does not use the caption field.
Hero
Used on the Home and About pages. See Hero under General Content Management > Single Types > Home here for more info.
Info
Used on the Home and About pages. The Info component is similar to the general type found under General Content Management > Single Types > Home here, except that it also includes an optional link and image.
Reviews
Used on the Home page in the Industry Reviews auto-looping carousel. You can add multiple entries consisting of a source (text), source_logo (image upload), and short review (text or HTML).
Swatches
You can add multiple color swatches to be displayed on a Product page. These consist of a name (item from provided dropdown) that corresponds to a variant’s color, and an image OR optional_color HEX value. The swatches are only displayed if the name exists on a variant’s color. See Variant type here.
